Spring in Meran

Spring begins early in Merano, already at the end of February, the first flowers of forsythia show, in mid-March, you can already enjoy magnificent flowerbeds. The apple blossoms are in full bloom at the beginning to the middle of April, unfortunately a nature-long spectacle of only a short duration that extends over kilometres. In May, the many Mediterranean flowers, plants and trees then explode properly: everywhere it sprouts, it blooms and the scent of this splendor is everywhere in the air. This is most probably felt in the botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle or on a walk through the narrow streets of Merano's residential district of Obermais, in the heart of which lies Hotel Juliane. The mountains are still snow-covered, but on the slopes below about 1,500 meters above sea level, it is wonderful to walk, hike and enjoy the sun in the balmy air.
